Mark has been making music since high school, where he was the drummer in the school band. Around this time he also plays in his first coverbands, including a one-gig band featuring actor/DJ-to-be Eric Corton.
In the late 80's Mark starts the band 'Rosa' together with a friend, a rock band with self-written songs. First as the drummer, but when the guitarist left the band, Mark took his place. Eventually, Mark also plays bass on their third and last CD, which goes to show how all-round he is as a musician.
His first real introduction to country and Americana music is in 2006, when he plays guitar in the band "Big Tuna Texas". This band is short-lived, but his love for country-, roots- and Americana-music is not.
After another Americana project in which only murder ballads are played, Mark founds with singer Ralph Buttner the band 'Pine Bluff', a solid rock band with original songs.
End of 2014, he is approached by Elles to strengthen her new band The State Sinners. It turns out to be a strong partnership. As Elles has said: “I was looking for a guitar player and I found a songwriting partner”. Together with Elles, Mark writes the songs for the band and also sings backing vocals.
With his dobro Mark delivers the finishing touch on the songs. His distinctive guitar sound is a big mark (…) on the music of The State Sinners.
